LOA is a musical project providing a reflection over Haitian and Louisiana Voodoo, bridging art, anthropology, the experimental and the ancestral. The starting point of LOA’s research was set by the works of the choreographer, dancer, writer and experimental filmmaker Maya Deren, such as the Religious Possession in Dancing and Divine Horsemen: The Living Gods of Haiti. In LOA, a tambourine and two DC-controlled motors with attached rags would strike its membrane in a repeating pattern, producing a mantra-like sound that would initiate the concert/performance rite.

The development of this musical performance also served as frame for the subsequent development of robotic musical instruments. (See Rada™ and NKISI).
