Rumble Strip is a visual and sonic sculpture developed in collaboration with visual artist Andreia Santana. The sonic and musical content was grounded in the use of idiosyncratic loudspeakers, exploring their particular sound diffusion and the resulting reflections created by the interaction between different sounding objects, such as resonant metal plates and directional loudspeakers pointed at a moving parabolic reflector.

A generative composition was programmed using Teensy, aiming to explore the relations between sounding objects and the acoustic space, by utilizing a set of modal frequencies. Travelling through resonant frequencies that interacted with both acoustic objects and space, the listener is invited to perceive their relation through sound as well as its decay and absence.
